This resource is included in Colors Unit for Kindergarten-Holistic English Series #2. LINK:

The Flashcards are a fun and effective way to engage the ELLs in learning English vocabulary.

Label the splotches: Place one or several splotch flashcards on the board and have the students come up and write the color word next to each one.

Show each flashcard one by one and have the students say the color name aloud.

Create a matching game using the colored flashcard or the B/w worksheet. Have the splotches ready to match to each space on the worksheet.

Color recognition: Have students identify and color the splotches as you name them: Color red!

Students can fill in each word as prewriting activity.

Color recognition:

An easy game that students can play on their own or in small groups: a color splotches puzzle.

Invite the kindergarten ELL students to match each color splotch to its identical pair. Encourage them to say the color names aloud as they find matches. Repeat the puzzle activity regularly to reinforce color vocabulary and recognition.

Give each student a bingo grid card and have them color the five splotches in any way they wish. Call out the names of colors randomly, one at a time. As you call out each color, students check their bingo grids to see if they have that color. If they do, they will check corresponding square with a marker. The first student to fill their entire bingo grid shouts "Bingo!" and wins the game.

Reinforce color vocabulary using the splotches cutouts besides the color words in color and b/w. Start the matching game.

Counting leaves for Kindergarten ELL

This resource is included in the Garden Unit for Kindergarten-Holistic English Series #17. LINK:

https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Garden-Unit-for-Kindergarten-Holistic-English-Series-17-6914668

Print these simple trees flashcards for reviewing the numbers 1 to 10 using vibrant visuals to represent them. Use them for interactive games such as matching the trees to the numbers.

There is a set of small cards that are easy to carry around and used for versatile teaching to adapt to your students’ proficiency levels. Here is an example of matching the trees to the numbers.

Create a feed me box by cutting and gluing the tree image onto a box.

Students: Number four!

This is a listen and color worksheet set. It will address listening comprehension as you dictate the color of each number. It is an enjoyable vocabualry acquisition action along fine motos skills development.

Students will cut the numbers and the words to match to the trees.

Another way is to cut all the cards and play a 3-card matching game.

There is a flower spinner with the numbers. Just cut the flower spinner, add a butterfly clip and a clip. Students will spin the clip and then find and match the number to the tree on the worksheet.

And finally, a read and color the leaves on the tree worksheet.

Students can cut the tree and glue onto a cardboard tube as a craft.

Fireflies Prepositions

This resource is included at Insects Unit for Kindergarten-Holistic English Series #18. Link: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Insects-Unit-for-Kindergarten-Holistic-English-Series-18-6984205

This material is intended to review or teach prepositions using the firefly. Students will learn to describe the basic spatial relationships, such as "in," "on," "under," "next to, "behind," "in front of”. You can teach the irst three and then the others. It depends on your class.  Prepositions are essential for understanding simple directions and following any instruction that you give in class.

Print the 6 basic preposition and the fireflies flashcards. Each flashcard features a firefly representing a preposition. The written form of the preposition is in bold, easy-to-read text under each illustration.

esl preschool

Play Preposition scavenger hunt. Place the fireflies flashcards around the classroom. Call to a preposition: The firefly is on the jar! Have the students walk around the class aiming to find the corresponding flashcard and bring it back to you.

Assemble a die for a group of three or four students in your class.

Print the worksheets to play with the die. Students will color the firefly picture corresponding to the preposition on the die.

Another activity is to glue the jar pictures onto plastic cups. Have your die ready. I also glued a craft stick behind the firefly.

Place a ball of play dough next to the next to cup, behind the behind cup and in front of the in front of cup. This will enable the craft stick to stand and perform the preposition definition.

Students will throw the dice and place the fiefly to replicate what landed on the die: The firefly is behind the jar!

Here is how I used the resource!

Use the jar with the all the other insect cutouts in the complete resource. Check it out:

Numbers 1 to 10 and Beads

This resource is Included in Numbers Unit for Kindergarten-Holistic English Series # 4. It is also available as an individual resource. Find it here:  https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Numbers-1-to-10-and-Beads-11460413

It is important to include teaching the Numbers 1 to 10 in your curriculum for your ELLs. Numbers are essential for everyday communication. Mastering numbers 1 to 10 will give your students confidence in their language learning abilities.

Let’s start with the visual aids such as the numbers flashcards as a review.

Use the Counting beads flashcards to count aloud and practice the colors as well.

Teacher: Let’s count!
Students: one, two, three!
Teacher: There are three beads! What color are they?
Students: blue, purple, pink!

Have the students say the color sequence in the flashcards.

Counting beads flashcards

Utilize hands-on manipulatives like counting beads if you have them, wiggly eyes or bottle caps. ELLs can physically manipulate these objects while counting, and matching to the numbers on each card reinforcing the connection between numbers and quantity. Use this activity for any math assessment.

Kindergarten math assessment

Use repetition to reinforce understanding by using all the cards illustrations to glue onto a brown lunch bag to do more counting. I used pompoms.

Provide additional support for students by playing with these number mats for many games. There are three, one with the beads, one with number words and another with the numeral. One mat will be board and the other can be cut and used as cards to match.

Kindergarten math games

Here’s my example: Match the number word to the beads on the mat.

Or match the numerals to the number words.

Or just cut them all and have cards to match.

Take a look!

A set of printable Kindergarten Math worksheets to wrap it up.
Students will color the beads as in the card to make a pattern for each number.
Teacher: five! Number five is red!
Trace the number and the word in red.
Let's color the beads: blue, purple, pink, yellow, red.
